Five AM
Ko wai mātou · Who we are

Kaupapa

“Kia whakatōmuri te haere whakamua.”

I walk backwards into the future with my eyes fixed on my past. — whakataukī

Five AM is founded by members of the Noble Whānau, who whakapapa to Waikato Tainui, Maungatautari, Ngāti Korokī Kahukura and Parihaka.

We are built from the values instilled in us — Māoritanga, and all that it means to move through the world as Māori. That is who we are at heart. It is also our point of difference: a distinct lens on both creativity and business that few others in this industry carry.

Te haerenga · Our journey

Five AM and its divisions began in a bedroom in Te Papaioea (Palmerston North), with a simple dream — to create and to explore. Like so many of our people, we are natural creatives and, in our history, explorers: curious about how the artistry of music comes together with the craft of business.

Surrounded by like-minded whānau of creative entrepreneurs, that curiosity — bunched up in a small town — fuelled what has become an almost ten-year journey. We are still here: still creating, still exploring, and discovering more every day.

Tā mātou tū · What we stand for

We know there aren’t many companies in our industry doing what we do, and we are proud to hold that space — building opportunities for the people we represent and the artists we are lucky enough to work with all around the world.

We are grateful for every one of these opportunities, and we hold ourselves to a standard worthy of them: to make the most of what we are given, and to represent Aotearoa and our people well on the world stage.

He mihi · Acknowledgements

We pay homage to the whānau before us, who paved the way with their support, wisdom and knowledge — Matao Craven Noble, Nigel Ihaka Noble, Peter Noble, Irene Noble and Ra Noble.

And we pay homage to the Kīngitanga, celebrating our Kuīni, Te Arikinui Ngā Wai Hono i te Pō.

Tō mātou kaupapa — this is our purpose, and our promise.
