Five AM
About Five AM

Built by artists, for artists.

An independent music company from Aotearoa, working with the world.

Five AM began with a question: how do creativity and the business of music come together — and truly live — in the world as it is now?

01 — Where it started

A curiosity from Palmerston North.

Five AM was founded in Palmerston North, New Zealand, out of a genuine curiosity about both sides of music — the art and the business — and how the two meet, and live together, in the modern world. That curiosity became a company.

02 — Built by artists

Creativity at the forefront.

Founded by artists, with creativity at the forefront, Five AM has always existed to support the people who make the work. Because we come from the creative side ourselves, we understand how artists think, create and move through the industry — and that understanding shapes everything we build.

03 — A decade in

Hundreds of artists, backed.

Over ten years in the music business, we’ve backed and played a part in the journeys of hundreds of artists around the world — through our own divisions, and by supporting the wider creative community around us.

04 — Independent by design

Artists keep what they make.

Today, Five AM is headquartered across Auckland, New Zealand and Melbourne, Australia, operating globally with a focus on the United States, Asia and the Australasia–Pacific region.

We are completely independent — building our own systems and infrastructure from the ground up, so that artists remain the owners of their work. Their music stays theirs; we just help it travel further.

What we stand for

Artist-first

Founded by artists, with creativity at the forefront. We build around the people who make the music, not the other way around.

Truly independent

Our own systems and infrastructure, built from scratch — no middlemen, no lock-ins, no borrowed playbooks.

You own your work

Artists keep ownership of what they create. Their masters, their music — theirs. We just help it reach further.

Let’s make something.
